Panthers Have Won Seven NE10 Titles Since 2010.
"On This Date" in 2010, Adelphi women's lacrosse finished its inaugural regular season as a Northeast-10 Conference member with an undefeated league record and the No. 1 seed in the league tournament – beginning a decade of dominance that would result in six NCAA national titles.
The Panthers, former members of the East Coast Conference, joined the NE10 for the 2009-10 season and quickly made an impression. Adelphi went 11-0 in league play that season, eventually going on to win the NE10 Championship – the first of three straight years of winning the league title for the newest member.
Adelphi held-off Stonehill, 14-13 in overtime, to claim the 2010 NE10 Championship one week after earning the top seed in the tournament. Marissa Mills scored the game-winner with 1:35 remaining in the second overtime. It was the first league title for the Panthers, who went on to win seven of the next eight in the NE10.
Two weeks later, Adelphi won the NCAA title with a 17-7 victory over West Chester on May 23 – finishing-off a remarkable first season in the NE10. The Panthers won a stunning six national titles in the 2010s, including the 2019 season – the final year of the decade – by once again beating West Chester.
Since the inception of the Division II Women's Lacrosse Tournament in 2001, Adelphi has a nation-best 28 victories and nine NCAA titles. The Panthers have accounted for 22 Division II Tournament victories and six NCAA championships since joining the NE10.
