NE10 Women's Lacrosse Teams of the Week: Assumption, Pace

Assumption, Pace

Each week for the remainder of the spring we will honor the seniors from two NE10 women's lacrosse programs as our teams of the week for each player's dedication to their program and teammates.

ASSUMPTION

Coach Abbey Capobianco-Simone on her senior class - "Our 2020 team was an incredibly special group.  They were led by a wonderful group of seniors and one grad student: Emily, Jenny, Gabbi, Marisa, Callie and Kailyn. You each uniquely left your mark. You broke records and opened doors for many Greyhounds to follow.  It may feel like you were robbed of a storybook season, but you left our program with a legacy that will not be forgotten, nor taken for granted. We will forever be indebted to you, your commitment and love to your team. You brought so much joy. You are the standard, far beyond the playing field. You are Assumption lacrosse.  We wish you all the best in your next chapter, and for a few--it will be on 500 Salisbury Street!"

Season Recap
The Greyhounds, who finished the season ranked No. 15 in the IWLCA rankings, were 3-0 to start the year – including a pair of NE10 wins against American International and Southern Connecticut. Assumption closed-out the shortened season with a 10-4 victory over Molloy. Emily Spath led the team with 17 points, all coming on nine goals and eight assists, while Kailyn Hart had 12 points on nine goals and three assists. Spath's point total was tied for second-best in the NE10.

PACE

Coach Tricia Molfetta on her senior class – "The 2020 class has left an undeniable legacy on our program. They are true ambassadors of Pace women's lacrosse and have elevated our program in their relentless pursuit of success. All four of them with their different personalities and leadership qualities have left an indelible impact on their teammates and our staff. When they come back in the future to Pace Stadium, they will see parts of themselves woven into our program. I know each of them will be successful in their endeavors and we wish them the best of luck. Lauren, MK, Alexa, and Johnna - thank you!"

Season Recap
Pace played just a pair of contests before the spring shutdown, going 1-1 with a loss to Roberts Wesleyan and a win against Saint Rose. The Setters were ranked No. 24 in the final IWLCA rankings of the spring. Mary Kate Lonegan and Johnna Leone each tallied a goal for the Setters through two games. Pace led all NE10 teams in goals per game (19.5) and draw controls per game (18.5), due in large part to a convincing 25-3 win over the Golden Knights in the team's first and only league game of the season.
