NE10 Celebrates DII 50th Anniversary

The Northeast-10 Conference, a proud longtime member of NCAA Division II, in collaboration with its member institutions is excited to announce a multimedia campaign to celebrate the Division's 50th Anniversary throughout the remainder of the spring semester. The campaign will have three different components that feature each NE10 institution and its outstanding student-athletes.

Founded in 1973, Division II provided a home to programs that wanted to keep their athletics budget in good proportion to the total institutional budget. It provided a "partial-scholarship" model for athletics-based financial aid, different from both Division I (fully-funded athletic scholarships) and Division III (no athletic scholarships). The NE10, which was officially formed in June of 1980, has always been a Division II conference - thriving in every aspect of the student-athlete experience: academics, athletics and community service.

As the Division celebrates this milestone, the NE10 plans to capture this special anniversary in multiple formats:

  • Written History: A brief written journey of each NE10 institution's history as a Division II member.
  • Q&A Segment: NE10 student-athletes answer questions regarding the 50th anniversary and why they chose Division II.
  • Instagram Photo Journal: NE10 student-athletes capture their Division II experience through photos and journal reflections.

Over the next several months, content will be released on a weekly basis - highlighting some of the best moments for each NE10 institution since joining the Division II ranks, as well as getting thoughts from administrators, coaches, student-athletes and alumni on the 50th anniversary.
