WEST BABYLON, N.Y. - Fellow NCAA Division II East Region Conferences, the East Coast Conference (ECC) and the Northeast-10 (NE10), as well as their member schools, have joined forces to help in the fight against COVID-19 to raise funds for the CDC Foundation.

Both the ECC and NE10 received full support from the entirety of their memberships to begin this fundraising initiative, as well as their collective student-athlete populations.

The CDC Foundation is an independent nonprofit and the sole entity created by Congress to mobilize philanthropic and private-sector resources to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s critical health protection work.

Donations can be made through the ECC/NE10 team page via the CDC Foundation's Combat Coronavirus Campaign powered by the crowdfunding firm, Charidy.

The campaign page states that your donation will fund medical supplies, increase lab capacity, deploy emergency staffing to U.S. public health agencies, provide support to vulnerable communities, address health communication needs, boost clinical research to improve health outcomes, build capacity and infrastructure for global response efforts, and much more.

"We are truly going through an unprecedented period in our nation's history and many of us are looking for ways to try to make a difference. The ECC is proud to partner with our friends and colleagues in the Northeast-10 on this fundraising effort," said ECC Commissioner, Dr. Robert Dranoff. "All of us, I think, know at least one person who is on the front lines fighting this deadly disease so any donation, no matter how big or small, has the potential to provide desperately needed equipment and other means of support. Let's all work together to make a difference."

Julie Ruppert, Commissioner of the NE10, stated, "The NE10 is proud to partner with the East Coast Conference in this initiative to make a difference. While our daily lives and routines have been impacted by this pandemic, we have the ability to assist our medical community, many of whom are former student-athletes, by raising funds to support them along with critically needed equipment. In this way, we won’t have to just sit on the sidelines – we can join the fight. We are United as One in this battle and I know that our NE10 and ECC families will come together in this cause. Every single dollar will make a difference."

ABOUT THE ECC
Founded as the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1989 and rechristened the East Coast Conference in July 2006, the ECC was formed to enhance intercollegiate athletic competition among member institutions and to assist them in integrating athletics into their academic program in a fiscally sound way. The ECC is committed to the highest standards of scholarship, sportsmanship, teamwork, and citizenship. Its mission is to promote the total person concept in its student-athletes, which stresses the abilities to excel in academic achievement, athletic competition, and positive character traits.

The East Coast Conference is a proud member of the NCAA and Division II. Division II is a dynamic and engaging group of colleges, institutions and conferences of varying sizes and educational missions. Division II members encourage and support diversity; value sportsmanship, fairness and equity; and place the highest priority on the overall educational excellence of the student-athlete.

ABOUT THE NE10
The NE10 is an association of 14 diverse institutions serving student-athletes across 24 NCAA Division II sports. Together we build brilliant futures by embracing the journey of every student-athlete.

Each year, 4,500 student-athletes compete in conference championships, making the NE10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the NE10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
