Pace University: 'Whalen Named Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance; Winn Promoted to Associate AthleticsDirector'

WHALEN NAMED ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS FOR COMPLIANCE;
WINN PROMOTED TO ASSOCIATE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR


PLEASANTVILLE, NY – Pace University Director of Athletics Joseph O’Donnell has announced the hiring of Kate Whalen as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, effective immediately. Whalen will also serve as the Senior Women’s Administrator as well as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Whalen comes to the Pace Athletics Department after serving as the Associate Commissioner for Operations/S.W.A. at the East Coast Conference. Prior to her time with the East Coast Conference she served as the Head Women’s Softball Coach and Assistant Athletics Director at Adelphi University. As the Head Softball Coach, she guided her teams to three NCAA Division II Regionals, including 2006 when she earned ECC Co-Coach of the Year Honors following a 33-17 season. During her 13 years at Adelphi, she amassed 330 wins, while leading her teams to eight consecutive seasons of 25 or more wins from 1999-2006.

Whalen received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics in 1987 from the University of New Haven and a Masters in Sports Management from the University of Richmond in 1991.

A native of Cheshire, Connecticut, Whalen resides in Larchmont, NY.

Pace also announced the promotion of Mike Winn to Associate Athletic Director effective immediately. He previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations.  Winn will continue in his role as Pace’s Head Women’s Soccer Coach.
