Division II Implements Aggressive
Strategic-Positioning Initiative
January 11, 2007
The Division II Presidents Council has worked on a new campaign
directed towards Division II specifically to help give a unique
identity within the NCAA.
The new visual identity for Division II was created to further
reflect the characteristics of the division, which is centered on
the “I Chose Division II” slogan and the six attributes
of Division II (Learning, Service, Passion, Sportsmanship,
Resourcefulness, and Balance).
What does “I Chose Division II” mean?
In interviews conducted with student-athletes, alumni,
administration, faculty and coaches of Division II schools, it is
often noted that Division II should not be viewed in comparison to
Division I or Division III.
Division II provides for a comprehensive program of learning and
development in a personal setting with high-level athletics
competition.
The above statement echoes the pride of Division II members. For
many different reasons, they chose Division II.
The Northeast-10 plans to implement the campaign through Web
sites, merchandise, banners, and video streaming. “Through
these means we will remind and educate our constituencies of the
Division II attributes and their relationship to community,
academics and individuality,” said Northeast-10 Conference
Commissioner Dave Brunk.
