Northeast-10 Golfer of the Week

Jim O'Connell, Bryant (Sr., Troy, NY) - Helped lead Bryant to a 13th place finish overall at the NEIGA Championship with a seventh-place finish. Opened with a round of 73 on Monday to finish eighth and followed with a 75 to move up a spot to seventh.

Northeast-10 Freshman of the Week

Tom Thiesing, UMass Lowell (Fr., Grafton, MA) - Fired a 161 to place in a tie for 78th (among 225 golfers) as UMass Lowell finished in 28th place in its return to the NEIGA Championship. Carded an 82 Monday and improved with a 79 Tuesday.

Northeast-10 Weekly Honor Roll:

Jeff Furtado, Assumption (Sr., Warwick, RI) - Placed 42nd at the New England Invitational, shooting a 157 (82-75), seventh best among Northeast-10 golfers.

Tyler Johnson, Assumption (Fr., Holden, MA) - Finished 12th best among Northeast-10 golfers at the New England Invitational, shooting a 160 (83-77).

Jacob Greene, Franklin Pierce (Fr., Gardner, MA) - Carded back-to-back rounds of 81 to lead the Ravens with a two-day score of 162 at the NEIGA Championships. Finished tied for 89th out of 226 individuals at the event.

Mike McCann, Saint Anselm (So., Tyngsboro, MA) - Shot a 78 to lead the Hawks' to their second straight first-place finish against Holy Cross on Sunday.

Ed Natti, Southern New Hampshire (Jr., Lisbon, NH) - Placed 23rd overall and fourth among Division II golfers at the NEIGA Championship. Carded a +9 153 (76-77) over the two-day event and became the first SNHU golfer since 2002 to earn All-New England honors.

Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

Bryant The Bryant men's golf team finished 13th overall at the NEIGA Golf Championships this weekend with Jim O'Connell finishing seventh and Brenden Smith in a tie for 49th…Southern New Hampshire The Penmen recorded their second-best finish ever at the NEIGA Championship, as they placed 17th out of 45 schools and finished fourth among Division II schools. Only the 2002 team, which placed 15th overall and second in the Division, has finished higher at the event. Junior Ed Natti (Lisbon, NH) became the first SNHU golfer since current head coach Matt Arvanitis to earn All-New England honors, as he placed fourth among Division II golfers with a +9 153 (76-77)…UMass Lowell UMass Lowell placed 28th among 45 NCAA Division I, II and III schools in its return trip to the NEIGA Championship. UML, which reinstated golf as a varsity sport last year following a seven-year hiatus, last played in the NEIGA Tournament in 1997.
