UMass Lowell Wins First Ever Share of NE-10 Regular Season Title;  Earn Top Seed in Upcoming Men’s Soccer Championship

South Easton, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Lowell has earned the top seed in the upcoming Northeast-10 Men’s Soccer Championship.

UMass Lowell finished 9-1-3 in conference play and tied with Southern New Hampshire University (13-2-3, 9-1-3 NE-10) for the best overall conference record, however the River Hawks’ win versus the Penmen on the final day of the regular season clinched the top seed. As a result, Southern New Hampshire will be the second seed in the championship.

Franklin Pierce University (11-7-1, 9-3-1 NE-10) is third in the championship field due to their regular season victory over Le Moyne College (12-4-2, 9-3-1 NE-10). The Dolphins will follow as the fourth seed. The top four seeds will host a quarterfinal contest.

The final four seeds are as followed; Merrimack College (10-4-3, 7-4-2 NE-10) will be the fifth seed, Southern Connecticut State University (6-6-5, 5-3-5 NE-10) is the sixth, Assumption College (6-6-5, 5-4-4 NE-10) claimed the seventh seed, while Bentley University (8-8-2, 5-6-2 NE-10) secured the eighth and final slot.

Quarterfinal matches begin on Sunday, November 2 and include #5 Merrimack at #4 Le Moyne squaring off at noon, while #7 Assumption travels to #2 Southern New Hampshire for a 1 p.m. contest. #8 Bentley will take on #1 UMass Lowell at 3 p.m. and #6 Southern Connecticut/#3 Franklin Pierce contest is slated for 4 p.m.

The semifinal round will take place on Wednesday, November 5 with winner of Merrimack/Le Moyne taking on the winner of Bentley/UMass Lowell and the winner of Southern Connecticut/Franklin Pierce matching up against the winner of Assumption/Southern New Hampshire. Game times are still to be determined/

The championship game is slated for 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 8 at the higher remaining seed.

With 15 member institutions the Northeast-10 is the second largest NCAA Division II athletic conference in the nation. Its 23 championship sports provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the largest such program of any Division II conference.
