Southern New Hampshire Picked to Three-Peat as Men’s Soccer  Regular Season Champions

South Easton, Mass. – The two-time reigning Northeast-10 Men's Soccer champions are picked to claim the Northeast-10 Regular Season title this year as voted by the conference's head coaches. Southern New Hampshire University (14-4-4, 10-1-2 NE-10) received seven first-place votes and tallied 162 points.

The Penmen finished just ahead of Franklin Pierce University (13-5-3, 10-2-1 NE-10) as the Ravens collected two first-place votes and 153 points. Finishing a close third was Le Moyne College (18-3-3, 10-2-1 NE-10) with 149 points. The Dolphins, who advanced to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals last year, received the final five first-place votes.

Southern Connecticut State University (14-5-2, 9-3-1 NE-10) is picked to finish fourth after collecting 138 points, while Merrimack College (11-7-1, 9-4-0 NE-10) rounds out the top five with 120 points.

Bentley University (6-10-2, 6-5-2) is predicted to finish in sixth place after receiving 88 points in the poll and is followed by Saint Anselm College (7-9-3, 6-5-2 NE-10) with 82 points. Assumption College (9-6-3, 6-5-2 NE-10) received 76 points and is predicted to claim the final post-season spot in eighth place slightly ahead of American International College (8-11-0, 5-8-0 NE-10) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell (4-12-0, 3-10-0 NE-10). The Yellow Jackets are picked to finish in ninth place after collecting 74 points, while the River Hawks received 72 points.

Rounding out the poll in order is Saint Michael's College (9-5-3, 5-5-3 (NE-10) with 61 points, Stonehill College (7-9-1, 3-9-1 NE-10) with 50 points, the College of Saint Rose (2-15-1, 1-11-1 NE-10) with 33 points and the University of New Haven (1-17-0, 0-13-0 NE-10) with 16 points in spots 11 through 14 respectively.

Teams will begin their quest for the conference championship beginning Thursday, Sept. 2 with a majority of the conference competing in non-conference match ups. Saint Anselm will face Assumption in the first NE-10 match up of the season on that day at 7 p.m. in Worcester.

The Northeast-10 championship is slated to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 2 with the quarterfinals followed by the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 5. The Northeast-10 Championship final will take place on Sunday, Nov. 7. All championship sites will be at the higher seeds.
