South Easton, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire men's soccer team jumped four sports up to number four in the recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Men's Soccer National Poll. The Penmen were ranked eighth last week.
Southern New Hampshire is joined in the national rankings by two other Northeast-10 institutions. Merrimack College is ranked 18th and is appearing in the national rankings for the first time this season, while Southern Connecticut State University is ranked 25th after receiving votes last week.
Southern New Hampshire improved to 5-0 after its 2-0 win over Stonehill College Tuesday night. The Penmen are now 2-0 in conference play and will travel to American International College on Saturday for a 6 p.m. conference match with the Yellow Jackets.
Merrimack (4-0) will face the College of Saint Rose on Saturday at home for a 1 p.m. conference match. It will be the Warriors first NE-10 match up of the season. Southern Connecticut (5-0, 2-0 NE-10) picked up its fifth win of the season as the Owls improve to 2-0 in conference play after defeating Assumption Tuesday night. Southern Connecticut will be on the road to face Saint Michael's College on Saturday for a 3 p.m. contest with the Purple Knights.
The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country.
