Franklin Pierce Takes Top Spot in Regional Poll

South Easton, Mass. – Franklin Pierce University and Southern New Hampshire University are both ranked in the top ten in the country, according to the most recent NSCAA Poll, which was released yesterday afternoon. Both the Ravens and the Penmen maintained their positions in the rankings, with Franklin Pierce ranked third and Southern New Hampshire ranked ninth.

Franklin Pierce is currently 10-1-1, following their 2-0 win over Stonehill on Saturday. Their only loss was suffered early this season against Dowling. The third-ranked Ravens have gone 43 days without a setback since, and have compiled an 8-0-1 mark over that time. They have only allowed five goals all season long, and only one in their last five times taking to the pitch.

Southern New Hampshire (11-1-2) played to a scoreless tie against Bentley on Tuesday night. The ninth-ranked Penmen's lone blemish is a 1-0 defeat at Merrimack in late September. Remarkably, their defensive unit has only allowed three goals all season long. The Penmen's 0.23 goals against average is currently tops in the country.

In the East Regional Poll, which was also released yesterday, six Northeast-10 schools appear with Franklin Pierce leading the way. The Ravens are followed by Southern New Hampshire, who checks in at number two in the regional rankings. Following those two, Southern Connecticut State University, Le Moyne College, Bentley University, and Merrimack College make up slots six through nine, respectively.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
