Franklin Pierce Claims Northeast-10 Regular Season Crown

South Easton, Mass. – The Franklin Pierce University men's soccer team claimed the top spot in the upcoming Northeast-10 Conference Tournament by finishing the regular season without a setback. The Ravens (12-0-1 NE-10) will be the number one seed when the tournament begins on Tuesday, November 2nd. Franklin Pierce allowed only six goals in their thirteen league games, fewest in the conference.

Southern Connecticut State University (12-2-2, 9-2-2 NE-10) was awarded the second seed, while Bentley University (10-2-5, 7-1-5) will be the number three seed in the conference tournament. Le Moyne College, the defending conference tournament champions, will be the four seed after they completed the regular season with a mark of 9-5-3, 8-3-2 NE-10.

Southern New Hampshire University (11-3-3, 7-3-3 NE-10), regular-season champions in 2008 and 2009, will be the five seed, while New Haven University (7-9-1, 6-7 NE-10) was awarded the six seed. Rounding out the final two slots in the conference tournament are Stonehill College (7-7-2, 5-6-2 NE-10) and Merrimack College (9-7-1, 5-7-1 NE-10). The Warriors are the eight seed as a result of the conference's tie-breaking procedure.

Quarterfinal games will begin this Tuesday with the top four seeds hosting the first round of action. #8 Merrimack will travel to #1 Franklin Pierce, #2 So. Connecticut will host #7 Stonehill, #3 Bentley will welcome #6 New Haven, and #5 So. New Hampshire will head to Syracuse, New York to take on #4 Le Moyne.

The semifinals will be held on Friday, November 5th with the winner of the Franklin Pierce/ Merrimack game taking on the winner of the Le Moyne/ So. New Hampshire contest. The other semifinal will pit the winner of So. Connecticut/ Stonehill against the victor of the Bentley/ New Haven showdown.

The Northeast-10 Championship final is slated for Sunday, Nov. 7 at the site of the highest remaining seed.
