South Easton, Mass. – The 2010 Men's and Women's NCAA Division II Soccer Tournaments get underway this weekend and six Northeast-10 schools will be taking part. Three member institutions from men's soccer and three from women's soccer will look to advance in regional play as the tournaments commence.

The men's tournament begins today for Southern New Hampshire University, as they will take on Bloomfield College in Rindge, N.H. The Penmen finished the year with a mark of 11-3-4, and have not played since a conference tournament semifinal loss to Le Moyne College nine days ago. So. New Hampshire struggled down the stretch finishing the year with three consecutive losses, but will look to right the ship against a Bloomfield squad that finished 15-3-1, while competing in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

It's the 16th overall appearance, and third consecutive, in the NCAA Tournament for So. New Hampshire, and the first for Bloomfield. The winner will take on the host institution, Franklin Pierce, on Saturday evening.

On Friday afternoon, the action really heats up as three Northeast-10 schools take to the pitch. In men's action, Southern Connecticut State University will take on Dominican College in a first round showdown. The Owls finished the year 13-2-3 and earned the third seed in the East Region.

The East Region gets underway on the women's side on Friday as American International College and Franklin Pierce University take to the field. American Int'l (13-6-1) was awarded the third seed, and will square off against Georgian Court. It's just the second time the Yellow Jackets will be taking part in the NCAA Tournament, and they will look to move on, with the winner of their game scheduled to play host-school C.W. Post in a regional semifinal game on Sunday.

Fourth-seeded Franklin Pierce, meanwhile, will travel to Albany, N.Y. to square off against Bridgeport University in a first round match up. For the Ravens (14-6-1), it's their record-setting 19th consecutive trip to the Big Dance.

Franklin Pierce has won five national titles, and a win on Friday would set up a regional semifinal showdown with the number one seed, The College of Saint Rose. The two teams squared off last weekend in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship game, with Saint Rose winning 3-0. With a Franklin Pierce win, the rematch between the Golden Knights and the Ravens would be for a spot in the regional finals.

The Northeast-10 is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that are committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,500 student-athletes. Each year, 4,500 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
