Albany, N.Y. – Laurie Darling Gutheil, head women's soccer coach at The College of Saint Rose, has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division II East Region Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season.
The Golden Knights put forth another historical season with Darling Gutheil at the helm this autumn. Saint Rose finished 23-1-1, made its third straight NCAA Tournament national semifinals appearance, won its fourth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Championship, and spent most of the season as the nation's top-ranked Division II squad.
Saint Rose furthermore recorded 17 shutouts, outscored its opponents by an 82-8 margin and surrendered only two, first half goals all year. The Golden Knights wound up second in the country in goals-against-average (0.317) and were fourth in scoring offense (3.28). They also posted the nation's second highest winning percentage (0.94) and have now gone 86-7-5 throughout the past four years.
