MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Southern New Hampshire University women’s tennis standout Amber Chandronnait (Bow, N.H.) appears in Sports Illustrated’s “Faces in the Crowd” segment in the October 26th issue that hits newsstands Thursday. This week’s issue features the NBA preview on its front cover.

Chandronnait becomes the eighth Penmen student-athlete to be selected for inclusion in Faces in the Crowd. She joins former women’s soccer players Heidi Schuberth (1984) and Heather Swabowicz (1995), men’s lacrosse player Chuck Monturio (1996), hockey players Rich Miller (2000) and Pat Doherty (2005), golf standout Matt Arvanitis (2001) and men’s soccer player Mounir Tajiou (2003).

Chandronnait was selected after capturing the singles title at the Wilson/ITA East Regional in Philadelphia for the second straight year last month. In the final, she defeated Ola Roberts of Concordia (N.Y.) College 7-5, 7-5, rallying from a 5-1 deficit in the second set. Last week, Chandronnait finished fifth in the National Small College Championship in the Division II women’s singles draw.

The 2008-09 Northeast-10 Player of the Year, Chandronnait is unbeaten in dual match singles play in her Penmen career (17-0) and owns a 30-2 overall singles mark since enrolling at SNHU. She spent her first season at the University of Nebraska before transferring to SNHU.
