CHINO, Calif.. Bentley senior Ryan Agnew (Spencer, Mass./David Prouty HS) closed out his collegiate cross country career in style Saturday afternoon, finishing 17th overall at the 2005 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championships, hosted by Cal Poly Pomona at Prado Park.

Agnew, competing in the nationals for the fourth time, covered the 10,000-meter course in 32:23.5 to earn All-America honors for the second straight year. He cut his 2004 finish (34th) in half and was fourth amongst runners from institutions located east of the Mississippi River, trailing only Jeff Weiss of Slippery Rock (3rd, 31:18.2), Paul Jozwiak of Saginaw Valley (14th, 32:05.2) and Nate Peck of Grand Valley State (16th, 32:10.9).

Amongst runners from the Northeast Region, Agnew finished seven places and 8.4 seconds in front of Stonehill's David Metzger, who was 24th overall.

"Ryan ran tremendous," said Bentley coach Ed Lyons. "He ran a very smart race. He was running in the 30's and 40's for much of the race, and passed about 20 runners during the last mile-and-a-half, two miles."

Agnew becomes Bentley's second two-time All-America, following Gary Mello, who did so in 1998 and 2000.
