Northeast-10 Men’s Athlete of the Week

Patrick Morasse, UMass Lowell (Sr., Lowell, MA) - Placed 20th out of 297 entries, 19th among scoring runners and tops among Division II runners at the Iona Meet of Champions. Covered the 8K course in 25:23.0 and led UMass Lowell to ninth place overall and first among Division II teams.

Northeast-10 Men’s Freshman of the Week

Ruben Sanca, UMass Lowell (Fr., Boston, MA) - Top Division II freshman finisher at the Iona Meet of Champions. Placed 76th overall and 60th among collegiate entries with a time of 26:30.3 for the 8K course.

Northeast-10 Women’s Athlete of the Week

Nicole Radzik, Bryant (So., Sutton, MA) - Placed second at the Ray Dwyer Invitational over the weekend at Rhode Island College, finishing in a time of 19:24, leading the Bryant women to a fourth-place finish.

Northeast-10 Women’s Freshman of the Week

Heather Gostyla, Assumption (Fr., Bloomfield, CT) - Finished fifth at the Worcester City Championships with a time of 21:13.

Northeast-10 Men’s Weekly Honor Roll:

Dan Bryant, Assumption (Fr., Bloomfield, CT) - Finished fifth at the Worcester City Championships with a time of 29:28.

Ryan Agnew, Bentley (Sr., Spencer, MA) - Captured first at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational with a time of 25:33 over the 8,000-meter Farm Course. Crossed finish list eight seconds in front of number two runner.

Caleb Paul, Bryant (Sr., Addison, ME) - Placed first at the Ray Dwyer Invitational over the weekend, finishing in a time of 27:24 to help lead the Bryant men to a first place finish.

Greg Kwasnik, Saint Anselm (Sr., Westborough, MA) - At the Harrier Classic, finished the race in a second place time among collegiate runners in a time of 26:07.

Billy Preston, Southern Connecticut (Sr., Griswold, CT) - Placed eighth with a time of 26:57 at the Williams Purple Valley Classic, leading the Owls to third place in the seven-team field.

Sean Griffin, Southern New Hampshire (Gr., Methuen, MA) - Placed 13th out of 197 runners and recorded the fourth fastest time in program history (27:57) at the Pop Crowell Invitational. Led the Penmen to a fifth place finish out if 21 schools.

David Metzger, Stonehill (So., Ellington, CT) - Placed 46th individually at Iona Meet of Champions, covering 8K layout in time of 25:56.

Northeast-10 Women’s Weekly Honor Roll:

Caitlyn Clark, Assumption (Sr., Worcester, MA) - Won second straight race in as many weeks after finishing first at the Worcester City Championships, coming in at 19:40, to help her team to the event win.

Melissa Nash, Bentley (Fr., Marshfield, MA) - Was Bentley’s number one runner at the Tufts Jumbo Invitational, placing 15th overall with a 6,000-meter time of 23:25.

Courtney Garrity, Franklin Pierce (Fr., Manchester, NH) - Placed 73rd out of 198 total runs with a time of 22:42 in just her second colligiate race.

Sarah Merullo, UMass Lowell (Fr., Wakefield, MA) - Top Division II freshman at the Iona Meet of Champions. Ran the 5K course in 23:46.1 to place 83rd overall and 73rd among collegiate runners and helped UML to a tie for 15th place with Stonehill.

Nicole Plante, UMass Lowell (Jr., North Adams, MA) - Placed 15th overall and first among Division II runners at the Iona Meet of Champions. Ran the 5K course in 22:27.7 and helped UMass Lowell to a tie for 15th place with Stonehill, the top two non-Division I schools in the field.

Katie Terry, Southern Connecticut (Jr., Watertown, CT) - Covered the 5K course in 21:58 to place ninth among 62 competitors.

Erin Smith, Stonehill (Sr., Brockton, MA) - Placed 46th individually with time of 23:11 over 5K layout at Iona Meet of Champions.

Northeast-10 Weekly Notes:

Assumption Assumption women’s cross-country team won the Worcester City Championships for the sixth straight time (did not run in 2003)…Bentley At the Tufts Jumbo Invitational, the Bentley men were fifth amongst seven teams and the Falcon women eighth of nine. Top finishers for the Falcons were senior Ryan Agnew (Spencer, MA), first in 25:33, and freshman Melissa Nash (Marshfield, MA), 15th in 23:25…Bryant The Bryant men's cross country placed first at the Ray Dwyer Rhode Island College Invitational this weekend led by Caleb Paul's (Addison, ME) first place finish. The Bulldogs host the Bryant Invitational this Saturday… UMass Lowell Senior Patrick Morasse and junior Nicole Plante were each the top Division II finishers at the Iona Meet of Champions Saturday at Van Cortlandt Park. Morasse placed 20th our of 297 entries and 19th among 163 scoring runners in 25:23.0 (8K), leading UMass Lowell to ninth place overall and tops among Division II teams. Plante placed 15th among 232 entries in 22:27.7 (5K). Ruben Sanca (26:30.3) and Sarah Merullo (Wakefield, MA) were the top D-II freshmen…Southern New Hampshire The Southern New Hampshire men placed fifth out of 21 schools and women finished 11th out of 20 schools at the Pop Crowwell Invitational hosted by Gordon College. Senior Alice Field (Concord, NH) recorded a personal-best time in the women's race and finished 47th out of 198 runners with a time of 22:02. Graduate student Sean Griffin (Methuen, MA) posted the fourth fastest time in program history and placed 13th out of 197 runners in the men's race with a time of 27:57…Stonehill Both Skyhawk squads impressed against predominantly Division I competition on Saturday at the Iona Meet of Champions, as the Stonehill men placed 11th while the women tied for 15th place with UMass Lowell. Division I powers Arkansas (men) and Cornell (women) took top team honors in the competition.
