Northeast-10 schools to send 44 student-
athletes to NCAA Championships in Pueblo, Colo.

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The qualifying field for the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships was released Tuesday, with 44 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes selected to compete at the meet, which will take place May 23-25 in Pueblo, Colo. 

On the women's side, 21 Northeast-10 student-athletes qualified, while 23 earned selections to the men's field. The 44 participants will be at the NCAA Championships, which will be hosted by Colorado State University at Pueblo at the Neta & Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl.

On the women's side, the University of Massachusetts Lowell had six student-athletes garner selections to NCAAs, with junior Elisabeth Monty set to compete in three events. Monty, who qualified in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles, will also compete for the River Hawks' 4x400 meter relay. 

Also on the 4x400 relay will be senior Shannon Cunningham and sophomores Taelour Murphy and Shaniece Cola, while Murphy also qualified individually in the 200-meter dash.

UMass Lowell junior Candace Green (shot put) and sophomore Antoinette Toussaint (400-meter hurdles) also qualified for NCAAs.

The University of New Haven will also send six student-athletes out west, headlined by sophomore Ada Udaya, who will compete in four events. Udaya, the Northeast-10 Women's Athlete of the Year, will run in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, and she is also a part of the Chargers' 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams.

The 4x100 team is made up of sophomore Briana Conyers, Udaya, senior Alissa Howell and freshman Marsha'e Holt. Conyers will also compete in the triple jump. 

The 4x400 relay team consists of junior Monica Yanez, sophomore Ivy Watts, Udaya and Holt.

Adelphi University senior Rosie Vassilatos will compete in the 400-meter hurdles.

From American International College, freshman and Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year Britt Bryant will compete in the long jump, while senior Jeptui Cherutich will compete in the women's 5,000-meter.

A pair of Bentley University seniors will compete in the 1,500-meter in Caitlin Fahey and Amy Varsell.

The College of Saint Rose junior Soroya Hudson will compete in the triple jump at nationals.

Southern Connecticut State University will send three student-athletes to compete, including sophomore Jasmine Bien-Aime, who will run in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. Junior Emma Crowcroft (javelin throw) and sophomore Michelle Grecni (pole vault) will also travel to Colorado for NCAAs.

On the men's side, So. Connecticut will send 11 student-athletes to NCAAs, with two competing in multiple events in senior Selasi Lumax and junior Logan Sharpe. The two are part of the Owls' 4x400 meter relay, which also features juniors Twayne Forth and Jimm Guerrier. Lumax also qualified in the 800-meter and Sharpe qualified in the 400-meter hurdles.

Also representing the Owls at NCAAs will be sophomore Michael Cameron (shot put), junior Omar Gonzalez (javelin), junior AJ Guerra (hammer), junior Nelson Laskoski (pole vault), junior and reigning decathlon individual national champion Nick LeBron (decathlon), sophomore Michael Lee (triple jump) and junior Brian Nill (800-meter). 

UMass Lowell will send six to Pueblo, Colo., including one multi-event student-athlete in senior Jeff Veiga, who will run both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter. Junior Omar Abdi will also run in the 1,500-meter.

The River Hawks' 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Ryad Bencheikh, senior Craig Bennett and juniors Casey O'Brien and Timothy Regan will also run at NCAAs.

American Int'l freshman and Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year Michael Biwott and senior Glarius Rop will both compete in two events. Both qualified in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter. 

New Haven senior David Thomas, the Northeast-10 Male Athlete of the Year, will compete in the long jump in Pueblo, Colo., while Saint Rose senior Macky Lloyd qualified in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. 

Stonehill College will send two high jumpers to NCAAs in sophomore Nicholas Staley and senior Corey Thomas. Thomas will also compete in the 110-meter hurdles.
