Setters Hire Stickles to Lead Cross Country Program.
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Director of Athletics Mark Brown announced today that Ed Stickles has been named the new head coach of the Pace University cross country programs.
"We are excited to have Coach Stickles join our team and lead our men's and women's cross country program," said Brown. "He brings incredible enthusiasm for working with our student-athletes and his knowledge of running and training is exceptional."
Stickles comes to Pace most recently from Edgemont High School, where he had volunteered as assistant cross country and track and field coach from 2014 to 2018. He moved into an official coaching position last season, serving as the school's assistant cross country coach in 2018.
Prior to Edgemont, Stickles coached cross county, and indoor and outdoor track and field at Bronxville High School from 2006 to 2012. While at Bronxville, Stickles was involved in the development of programs that generated numerous league, county class, and Section One championships. In addition, while at Bronxville, Stickles coached Mary Cain in her final year of high school running before signing her professional contract to run for Nike.
Stickles also coached at Harrison High School from 2002 to 2005. He was involved with the NY Harriers Running Club from 1993 to 2000 and the NY Flyers Running Club from 1994 to 1996.
Stickles competed collegiately at SUNY Cortland. As a member of the Red Dragons, Stickles competed at a pair of NCAA DIII cross country championships and won the SUNY Conference Championship in the 5,000-meter.
"I'm excited to take on this next chapter in my coaching experience," said Stickles. "I look forward to working with this great group of student-athletes and helping them to achieve their personal running goals as well as improving the team's standing in the NE10."
A resident of Sleepy Hollow, Stickles graduated from Cortland in 1989 with a degree in physical education. He went on to earn a Masters from Teachers College, Columbia University in 1996, earning a degree in special education with a concentration in behavior disorders. In 2011, he earned a Masters of Education in administration and supervision from Bank Street College of Education.
