Kristen Frost Punctuates NCAA Championships
With Fourth National Title
Three Owls All-Americans in 1650-yard freestyle

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Sophomore Kristen Frost (Madison, Conn.)
of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s swimming
and diving team won her fourth national championship in as many
days on Saturday as she took the national title in the 1650-yard
freestyle during the fourth and final day of competition at the
NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships at Mizzou
Aquatics Center on the campus of University of Missouri. Including
Frost, three Owls earned All-America accolades in the 1650-yard
freestyle
Frost finished the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:17.66,
just over 25 seconds better than Truman State’s Molly
Polette, who finished second. Frost’s time breaks the NCAA
Division II record by nearly 11 seconds. The previous record was
16:28.24, set by Laurence Bensimon of Florida Atlantic on March
14,1987.The national championship is the fourth of the week for
Frost, who captured the 500-yard freestyle on Friday, the 200-yard
freestyle on Thursday and set a new NCAA Division II record while
winning the 1,000-yard freestyle on Wednesday.
Sophomores Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.) and Emily Sundel (West
Hartford, Conn.) also placed in the top eight in the 1650-yard
freestyle to take home All-America accolades as they finished sixth
and eighth, respectively. Hall finished with a time of 17:22.67
while Sundel posted a time of 17:25.64.
