South Easton, Mass. – A total of 17 athletes from
the Northeast-10 have qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming
& Diving championships, which will be held March 10-13 at the
C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio.
Southern Connecticut State University leads the NE-10 with 10
swimmers and divers (three men and seven women) that qualified for
the national championship.
Senior Cody Hall (Parker, Colo.)
highlights a list of Southern Connecticut swimmers and will be
competing in four individual events. Hall will compete in the
1,000-yard freestyle, 400-yard IM, 500-yard freestyle, and 100-yard
freestyle. Sophomore Austin Mizzell (Bristol,
Conn.) is leading the men’s side competing in
five individual events, including the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM,
200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, and 200-yard
breaststroke.
Bentley University junior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham,
Mass.) will be participating in three events,
including the 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, and the 200-yard
backstroke.
The College of Saint Rose will be represented by sophomore
Vadim Yafeyev (Albany, N.Y.) who
qualified for the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM, and 100-yard backstroke
and freshman Caitlin Brauer (Clifton Park, N.Y.)
who will compete in the 200-yard IM, 400-yard IM, 200-yard
breaststroke, and 1,650-yard freestyle.
Le Moyne College sophomores Katie O’Donnell
(Delmar, N.Y.) and Andrew Aquaviva
(Delmar, N.Y.) will represent the Dolphins.
O’Donnell will swim in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100 and
200-yard backstroke, while Aquaviva will compete in the 100 and
200-yard backstroke.
On the diving side of the championship the Northeast-10 will have
two athletes competing from Southern Connecticut, including the
NE-10 Championships diving MVP, sophomore Amanda Burden
(Orange, Conn.), along with junior Lauren Sasso
(Orange, Conn.). Burden is seeded No. 1 in the 1-meter diving
event.
With 16 member institutions the Northeast-10 shares the
distinction of being the largest Division II conference in the
country along with the PSAC and WVIAC. Its 23 championship sports
provide athletic opportunities for over 5,500 student-athletes, the
largest such program of any Division II conference.
