New Haven, Conn. – For the first time in program history, the Southern Connecticut State University men's outdoor track and field team has claimed the New England Championship. The Owls easily outdistanced the rest of the field, finishing 23.5 points ahead of second place Northeastern.
Senior Diwani Augustine also collected the New England championship in the triple jump on Saturday with a mark of 49 feet, 9.75 inches.
In all, 10 Owls earned All-New England honors on the final day of competition.
The 4x100 relay team of Nana Ocran, Russell Fallo, Stenson Jean-Baptiste and Twayne Forth placed second in that event with a time of 42.01.
Enis Bukalo collected All-New England honors with an eighth place finish in the shot put. He threw 51 feet, 5.75 inches in the event.
Josh Perry was eighth in the 1500 meters with a time of 3:53.33 to earn All-New England laurels.
The Owls claimed second through fourth place in the 800 meters. Lumax was second with a time of 1:49.90. Corey DeLaCruz was third with a mark of 1:50.08, while Perry was fourth in 1:51.59.
Casey Canada finished fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.59 seconds.
Fallo and Ocran went sixth and seventh, respectively in the 100 meters for the Owls.
Logan Sharpe was third in the 400 hurdles with a time of 53.00.
The 4x400 relay team of Forth, Sharpe, Jean-Baptiste and Lumax placed second with a time of 3:11.66.
Jared Dixon finished eighth in the triple jump with a leap of 6 feet, 4.75 inches.
Qualifying Owls will return to action for the upcoming NCAA Championships.
