Skyhawk men make it three straight titles,
women claim fifth straight and 12th in program history

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Stonehill College won both the Northeast-10 Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships on the campus of Saint Anselm College Sunday morning, marking the third consecutive year that both Stonehill programs have claimed victory at the conference championships.

The Skyhawk women won their fifth straight title and 12th in 14 years with a team total of 35 points, while the men's team totaled 57 points to claim its third crown in as many years. 

Stonehill head coach Karen Boen received Northeast-10 Men's and Women's Coach of the Year honors, as voted upon by her coaching peers.

In the men's race, Franklin Pierce University finished as runner-up to Stonehill with 70 points, and Saint Michael's College finished second in the women's event with 103 points. For the complete team standings, please see below.

American International College sophomore Michael Biwott (pictured, below) was named the 2013 Northeast-10 Men's Athlete of the Year after winning the men's race with a time of 24:53. Biwott, a three-time USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week winner this season, claimed the individual title and conference honor for the second straight year with his performance on Sunday.

American Int'l junior Alexandra Stasiuk took first place in the women's race with a time of 17:59, while Bentley University junior Tara Dooley, who did not compete on Sunday, was named the 2013 Northeast-10 Women's Athlete of the Year in a vote by the league's head coaches.

American Int'l freshman John Chirchir and Stonehill freshman Nicole Borofski, respectively, were named the 2013 Northeast-10 Men's and Women's Rookies of the Year.

In each race, the top-seven runners receive Northeast-10 All-Conference First Team honors, while the next seven finishers make Second Team and the next seven earn Third Team laurels. Please see below for the complete All-Conference breakdown.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
