American International Men, Stonehill Women Picked On Top in NE-10 Cross Country Polls

Skyhawks Women's Squad Selected to Win Sixth Straight Conference Championship

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The American International College men's team and the Stonehill College women's team were selected on top by the Northeast-10 Conference's head coaches in advance of this Sunday's Conference Championship races.

This year's Northeast-10 Championship is being hosted by Franklin Pierce University, with the men's race beginning at 10 a.m., and the women's set to start at 11 a.m.

The Stonehill women's team, led by the venerable Karen Boen, is looking for their sixth straight NE-10 title, and 13th in the last 15 years overall. The Yellow Jackets men's team has been tabbed to win their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Stonehill features a balanced group of outstanding runners, led by talented sophomore Nicole Borofski, pictured at left, and freshman Emily Knox. Stonehill defeated Saint Michael's College a year ago to claim their fifth straight title.

American Int'l, meanwhile, is looking for their first league crown. Led by the sensational Mike Biwott, who has won the men's race each of the last two years, head coach Leo Mayo's team now may have the depth to claim the championship hardware. The Yellow Jackets top finish on the men's side came two years ago, when they finished second.

Following Stonehill in the women's voting was: Saint Michael's, which received 174 votes, including one first place tally; Merrimack College (152 points); Assumption College (151); and Southern New Hampshire University (125).

On the men's side, it was the Yellow Jackets picked first with 193 points, and 11 first place selections, then: Franklin Pierce University (181 points – 4 first place), Stonehill (169), Bentley University (160), and Adelphi University (141).

The Northeast-10 is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.

Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sports sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
