Pace Softball Assists with Walk Now for Autism Speaks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 30, 2014

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.- The Pace University Softball team assisted with Walk Now for Autism Speaks hosted at Rockland Community College on October 18.

The Pace Softball team assisted in the set-up the day before the event and helped the organizers prepare for the walk the following day. The event was a success as there were over 400 walkers and the RCC event raised over $150,000 for autism research.

Walk Now for Autism Speaks, the nation's largest grassroots autism walk program, is Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness event, taking place in communities across the United States, as well as in Canada.

Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum and local businesses and companies that employ those on the spectrum, this successful grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.

Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
