Louisville, Ky. – The Southern Connecticut State University softball team was recognized for its academic work at the conclusion of the NCAA Division II Spring Festival, held in Louisville, Ky. The Owls were honored for having the highest team grade point average of any of the softball teams participating in the College World Series.
Southern Connecticut finished the 2012 season with a 43-13 record and set a new single-season school record for victories.
Along the way, the Owls also won their first-ever Northeast-10 Conference regular season title, captured its first-ever NCAA Regional title and also advanced to the College World Series.
In addition, the team also won its CWS debut, 3-2 over St. Joseph's (Ind.).
