Garden City, N.Y. - Adelphi's Kristina Cavallo has been selected as the recipient of the Eastern District–American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD), EDA Robert Pate Award. This honor is awarded to the top female physical education major in the East.
The award will be given to her at the National Convention in Boston, Massachusetts in March. Upon receiving the EDA Award, she becomes one of just six that are eligible to receive the National Student of the Year Award from AAHPERD.
Cavallo is entering her senior year as a member of the softball team. Last year, the outfielder saw time in 13 games, scored five runs, registered one walk and recorded two putouts.
AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals supporting and assisting professionals involved in physical education, recreation, fitness, sport and coaching, dance, health education and promotion, and all specialties related to achieving a healthy and active lifestyle.
