Adelphi's Ryan Snouffer captures medalist
honors, ties conference mark for single-round score
 

KEENE, N.H. – Led by sophomore Ryan Snouffer's second-round score of 66, Adelphi University claimed its second straight Northeast-10 Conference Golf Championship on Monday afternoon at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H.

The Panthers had a two-day team total of 596 to win the 2013 title, overcoming a four-stroke deficit from Day One. It marks their fourth Northeast-10 Championship victory in the last five years.

Bentley finished second overall in the team standings with a 608, led by junior Jon Stoddard, who finished second overall with a 145, including a round-low 70 on Day One.

Southern New Hampshire University and American International College tied for third place at 619, while Le Moyne College finished fifth with a 625.

Snouffer (pictured, third from left), whose Day Two score of 66 tied the Northeast-10 Championship single-round mark, shot a 140 to earn the prestigious Gordon McCullough Memorial Award, named after the former Hartford head coach.

The College of Saint Rose freshman Cullen Spang shot a 150 to earn Northeast-10 Rookie of the Year honors, including a 71 on Day Two, finished fourth overall at the championship.

Adelphi head coach Janzten Vargas claimed Northeast-10 Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year following his team's victory on Monday.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
