NE10 Basketball Student-Athletes Receive National Acclaim

NE10 Student-Athletes / Coaches Receive Postseason Honors

MANSFIELD, Mass. - A number of NE10 basketball student-athletes and coaches were recently honored as All-American and All-Region teams were announced. Three women's basketball student-athletes and two men's players received All-American honors, as the postseason awards were handed out.

For a full list of accolades for each student-athlete, see below.

Adelphi's Sierra Clark, pictured above, American International's Dana Watts, and Bentley's Jen Gemma were all recognized as All-Americans by both the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (CCA), as well as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for their efforts this past season. Gemma was honored by the WBCA last year as well.

Gemma was honored as the NE10 Player of the Year for the second straight season, while Clark and Watts were both First Team All-Conference selections.

On the men's side, Southern Connecticut's Michael Mallory and Southern New Hampshire's Devin Gilligan were both recognized as All-Americans by the D2CCA, while Gilligan was also honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Gilligan was selected by the coaches as the Conference Player of the Year, while Mallory was named to the First Team for the second consecutive season.

Bentley's Barbara Stevens and Saint Rose's Brian Beaury were each named as the East Region Coach of the Year. Stevens, who was honored for the 11th time and Beaury both led their respective teams to NCAA Tournament appearances this season.

Clark, Gemma, and Watts were also named First Team All Region selections by the D2CCA. They were joined on the all-region team by Adelphi's Calli Balfour and Saint Anselm's Candace Andrews , who were Second Team honorees.

Both Gilligan and Mallory were also named All Region First Teamers, as was Saint Anselm's Tim Guers. Saint Michael's Matt Bonds and Southern New Hampshire's Chris Walters were Second Team members.
