Bentley and Assumption Again Featured in Women’s Hoop Rankings

South Easton, Mass. – In the latest USA Today/ESPN Division II women's basketball national coaches poll, Bentley University moved up three spots to sixth in the country while Assumption College came in at No. 24. Both teams have now been selected in the nation's Top-25 in all seven editions of the weekly rankings.

Bentley, which served as the nation's top-ranked team for a three-week stretch earlier this winter, received 572 points in the most recent poll. Assumption, which ranked as high as No. 12 three weeks ago, received 44 points.

Bentley (15-2, 11-1 NE-10) won its two contests last week, defeating American International College and The College of Saint Rose by an average of 28.0 points. Sophomore Lauren Battista has averaged 18.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Falcons, who have held opponents under 50 points in eight of their 15 victories. Bentley also defeated Adelphi on Tuesday, 87-75, and will travel to the University of New Haven on Saturday afternoon.

Assumption (12-4, 9-3 NE-10) dropped four spots to No. 24 in the poll having lost four of its last seven, although the Greyhounds did earn a convincing 67-46 win at Franklin Pierce University on Tuesday night. Senior forward Kelly Meredith is averaging a team-high 19.6 points per contest for the Greyhounds, who will host the University of Massachusetts Lowell on Saturday.

AROUND THE NORTHEAST-10: Franklin Pierce, Pace University and Southern New Hampshire University all received votes in the poll for the second straight week…Northeast-10 institutions have now been selected a combined 19 times in the national poll this season, while conference schools have also received votes on 10 different occasions…So. New Hampshire junior Sloane Sorrell was named the Northeast-10 Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 30.0 points and 8.5 rebounds in a pair of Penmen victories last week…Teammate Christine Duffy is second in the country with 7.4 assists per game, according to the most recent NCAA statistical leaders report…Franklin Pierce senior Jewel White is seventh in the nation in rebounds per game (12.1).
