Third-seeded Stonehill College and fourth-seeded Bentley University both advanced to the semifinals of this year’s Northeast-10 Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship with first-round victories on Wednesday night.
Stonehill earned a 15-3 victory over sixth-seeded Merrimack College, while Bentley downed fifth-seeded University of New Haven, 9-8.
The semifinals, which will be hosted by top-seed Le Moyne College, will take place on Saturday, with Le Moyne taking on Bentley at 11:00 a.m. and Stonehill drawing second-seeded Adelphi University at 2:00 p.m.

Stonehill scored the first seven goals Wednesday night on its way
to a 15-3 first-round victory, as Kayla Green, Samantha
Lynott (pictured) and Heather
Sullivan all had three goals apiece in the win.
Sarah Galligan added a pair of goals for
the Skyhawks.
In goal, Rebecca Moore stopped 12 of 15 shots for Stonehill while Merrimack’s Sam Kiesel made 21 saves on the night.
Sullivan first put the Skyhawks on the board at the 23:59 mark of the first half before adding another goal on a free position shot just 32 seconds later for a 2-0 lead. It took Brooke Rudden less than a minute to find the back of the net again for Stonehill, and Lynott soon added two goals of her own for a 5-0 advantage.
Stonehill, which owned an 8-1 lead at the half, got a free position goal from Kayla Green to open up the second half. Merrimack’s Tyler Szymanski – who had two of the Warriors’ three goals on the night – added a goal just 1:17 later to make it 9-2, but the Skyhawks went on to score the next six goals. Colleen Strachan scored with just under seven minutes left for Merrimack.
The Skyhawks, who have won nine conference titles, will be competing in the championship semifinals for the 14th time in program history.

#5 New Haven 8 – BOX
Bentley’s Taylor Bastien scored
with 31 seconds remaining to break an 8-8 tie, allowing the Falcons
to advance to Saturday’s Northeast-10 Championship semifinals
with a victory on Wednesday night.
Bastien had a game-high three goals in the game, while New Haven’s Kathryn Campbell, Alexis Gabbe and Sarah Magnone all had two goals.
After a Carolyn Kynoch goal gave Bentley a 5-1 lead with 9:11 remaining in the first half, New Haven scored three of the next four to make it a 6-4 deficit at halftime.
Bastien opened up the second-half scoring with a goal at the 19:23 mark, although Magnone returned the favor just over three minutes later for New Haven. Bastien later assisted on a Bentley goal to go up 8-5 with 12:49 left, but New Haven scored the contest’s next three goals to tie it up, with the equalizer coming on a free position shot from Ashley Ferrandiz with 2:01 remaining.
But Bastien’s goal, which Kynoch assisted on, with 31 seconds left served as the game-winner for the Falcons, marking the sixth Northeast-10 semifinal appearance in Bentley program history.
