Seven from Northeast-10 Collect Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Honors

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Two men and five women from Northeast-10 Conference schools received 2014 Capital One Academic All-America At-Large honors earlier this week in recognition of achieving excellence both on the field and in the classroom. The Capital One All-America Teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA.

Adelphi University grad student Nick Watson (men's lacrosse) received First Team honors, while Assumption College junior Brennen Shaw (ice hockey) was honored on the Third Team.

For the women, Adelphi senior Devan Crimi (women's lacrosse, pictured) and Stonehill College senior Devin Ingersoll (field hockey) both collected Second Team recognition, while Le Moyne College senior Megan Collins (women's lacrosse), Southern Connecticut State University seniorAnna Pleban (women's swimming & diving) and Southern New Hampshire University senior Phoebe Clark (women's lacrosse) all received Third Team honors.

Watson, who posted a 4.0 GPA as an engineering major, was one of only two men's lacrosse players selected to the first team. He was one of the key performers in an outstanding campaign for Adelphi, helping the Panthers finish with a 17-2 record, advancing to the NCAA Division II semifinals. While playing in 14 games at attack, he finished with 55 points on 37 goals and 18 assists, and was named a third team United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American and was also a first team All-Northeast-10 selection. He recently participated in the USILA/LAXWORLD North/South Division I/II All-Star Game and was voted a USILA Scholar All-America.

On the ice, Shaw appeared in all 25 games for the Hounds, posting eight points on one goal and seven assists during the 2013-14 season. He is a four-time recipient of the Assumption College Student-Athlete Director's Citation, awarded to student-athletes who achieve over a 3.5 grade point average, as well as a two-time recipient of the Assumption College Premier Student-Athlete Award, honoring student-athletes who achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA.
 
Crimi, was also just one of two lacrosse players on the second-team, posting a GPA of 3.70, while majoring in business management. A 2014 Intercollgiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) First-Team All-America, Crimi was also voted as the Player of The Year in the Northeast-10. In addition, she was a first-team All-Northeast-10 performer, IWLCA First-Team All-Region honoree and a member of the NCAA Division II Final Four All-Tournament Team. Crimi led the Panthers in both goals and assists, finding the back of the net 83 times and handing out 52 assists for a total of 135 points. 

Ingersoll, who recently graduated with a 3.85 GPA as an environmental science major at Stonehill, adds this latest honor to a mantle full of awards over her career. She was recently named the Edward E. Martin Female Scholar-Athlete Award recipient at Stonehill's Senior Student-Athlete Awards dinner and was a finalist for the Northeast-10 Woman of the Year award as well as the College's nominee for the NE-10's Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete Award. Ingersoll earned the NE-10 Sport Excellence Award for field hockey this season and is a two-time NE-10 Academic All-Conference pick, having earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester.

A Mathematics major with a 3.85 GPA, Collins was selected to the IWLCA North Region Second Team this spring, her third straight all-region honors, after being selected to the first team last year and the second team as a sophomore. An IWLCA First Team All-American last year, Collins was second on the team in caused turnovers with 18, which ties for the 12th-most in the program's history, to anchor a defense that allowed just 8.00 goals per game. A Northeast-10 First Team All-Conference selection for the second straight year after being tabbed to the second team as a sophomore, she led the team in ground balls with a career-high 35. 

Pleban was selected as a Third-Team Academic All-American for maintaining a 3.88 GPA. A nominee for the 2014 Northeast-10 Woman of the Year and 2014 NE-10 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, Pleban concluded her career as a 14-time Northeast-10 champion. The Owls' captain was also named as both the SCSU Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She was a three-time Northeast-10 Women's Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team (2012, 2013, 2014) selection. Pleban has also been previously named as a Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award recipient (2012, 2013).

Clark, a Business Administration major with a 3.96 GPA, was a four-year standout for the Penmen women's lacrosse program, and was also a member of the first-year women's golf team in 2013-14.  In 2014 she earned Northeast-10 Second Team All-Conference honors after totaling 28 goals and 11 assists for the Penmen while serving as a team captain.  The NE-10 Rookie of the Year in 2011, Clark wrapped up her career with 117 goals and 35 assists for 152 points, placing her seventh in career goals, eighth in career points, and just outside the top 10 in career assists.  She also ranks seventh in program history in draw controls with 107.
