UMass Lowell Picked to Repeat by Men’s Cross Country Coaches

South Easton, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts Lowell's men's cross country team has been selected first in the conference by the league's head coaches.  Last season, the River Hawks finished first at both the Northeast-10 Championship and the NCAA East Regional, before finishing 13th at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.

UMass Lowell received 13 of the possible 15 first-place votes, and totaled 195 points in the preseason poll.  The River Hawks will begin their season Saturday, September 2nd at the Keene State Alumni 5K.

Stonehill College finished second in the voting with 181 points after finishing second at the NE-10 Championships last year.  The Skyhawks also finished second to UMass Lowell last November in the NCAA East Regional.  They received one first-place tally.

Bentley University placed third in the voting with 159 points, while Southern Connecticut State University had 153 points and American International College 149 points to round out the top-five.

The College of Saint Rose received one first-place vote and garnered 128 points for the sixth position in the poll.  Adelphi University had 119 points and the University of New Haven totaled 104 points, while Merrimack College (86 points) and Le Moyne College (73) finished in the ninth and 10th spots, respectively.

The remainder of the poll included Saint Anselm College with 70 points, Saint Michael's College with 53 points, Assumption College with 47 points, Southern New Hampshire University with 32 points and Pace University with 25 points.
