7 Named Academic All-America; 18 Tabbed Academic All-District

AUSTIN, Texas – Seven fall student-athletes from the Northeast-10 Conference have been honored with CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In addition, 18 NE10 student-athletes collected Academic All-District honors this fall.
Student-athletes from the sports of football and men’s and women’s soccer represented the NE10 as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, while the league had Academic All-District honorees in those three sports along with volleyball. In total, six NE10 institutions were represented on Academic All-America teams, and nine were represented on Academic All-District teams. Bentley was the only NE10 school with multiple CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.
The most Academic All-Americans from the NE10 came in football with three. Leading the way was Bentley senior linebacker Bryan Hardy, who earned first team accolades. Fellow teammate and senior defensive back Sam McDonald was named to the second team along with Assumption senior running back Alex Shain. Hardy, McDonald and Shain were joined by LIU Post senior quarterback Jeff Kidd and Southern Connecticut junior tight end Ryne Griesenauer on the Academic All-District Team.
Two NE10 men’s soccer student-athletes landed Academic All-America status. Adelphi graduate student Alejandro Penzini and Merrimack senior forward Jaime Cortes Torres were both named third team honorees. Joining Penzini and Cortes Torres on the Academic All-District Team were Adelphi’s John Stojcevski and Merrimack’s Mattia Lanzi and Lars Sund. Penzini and fellow teammate Emil Thomsen also earned Scholar All-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The NE10 also had a pair of women’s soccer student-athletes honored as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. Pace junior defender Drew Ribadeneyra and Southern Connecticut senior forward Caroline Staudle both picked up third team laurels. In addition to Ribadeneyra and Staudle, Adelphi sophomore goalkeeper Anne Marie Ulliac, Bentley senior forward Ana Tantum and Saint Rose senior defender Elisa Galbiati landed Academic All-District honors. Stonehill senior goalkeeper Jamie Block was also honored as a first team NSCAA Scholar All-American, while Ribadeneyra earned second team honors.
Lastly, three volleyball student-athletes from the NE10 collected CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades. Adelphi senior Mandy Stanislovaitis, Le Moyne senior Natalie Casson and Pace sophomore Claudia Fontanet all represented the conference on the Academic All-District Team.
