MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Northeast-10 continued formally honoring its Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on Wednesday, recognizing the three student-athletes within the distinguished club this week. The next student-athlete to be honored was former Merrimack women’s basketball All-American Joelle Martin.

Martin led Merrimack to its only two Final Four appearances during her time on campus, and she finished her career as the program’s only 2,000-point scorer.

She currently ranks seventh in conference history in scoring with 2,038 career points, 11th in steals (314), and is tops in Merrimack school history in scoring average (15.7), field goals made (695) and free-throw percentage (82.6).

A two-time All-American, Martin was named all-conference each of her four seasons on campus. She was a first team all-conference selection three times and was also named the MVP of 2004 NE-10 Championship.

The newest members of the NE-10 Hall of Fame were honored at the conference’s annual banquet, which was held on June 6.

  • During her freshman season in 2002-03, Martin was named NE-10 Rookie of the Year before helping Merrimack earn its first-ever NCAA tournament appearance
  • Martin led the Warriors to back-to-back regional titles in 2004 and 2005, guiding her team to the national semifinals two years in a row
  • Merrimack won the NE-10 regular season crown in 2003-04 and 2004-05 and faced Bentley in the NE-10 title game both seasons, taking the crown in 2004 (Martin earned MVP honors) before falling in overtime in 2005
  • Martin was named the Daktronics Northeast Region Player of the Year in 2006 and claimed All-America honors in 2005 and 2006
