In front of nearly 23,000 fans at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md., Le Moyne captured its second straight men’s lacrosse national title, as the Dolphins defeated Mercyhurst, 6-5, in a scintillating title game.
Mike McDonald scored the game-winning goal with just one second remaining to give the Dolphins their third national championship in the sport. Along the way, Le Moyne would capture its 7th consecutive NE-10 title and finished the year with an overall record of 15-2.
The newest members of the NE-10 Hall of Fame were honored at the conference’s annual banquet, which was held on June 6.
- Le Moyne trailed Mercyhurst, 5-4, after the third quarter before scoring the game’s final two goals en route to the national title
- McDonald was named the championship game’s Most Outstanding Player for the second year in a row after his second goal of the game sealed the win
- After starting the season with a 4-2 record, the Dolphins capped off the 2007 campaign with 11 straight victories
- Three Dolphins claimed USILA major awards at season’s end - McDonald (Attackman of the Year), Jared Corcoran (Goalie of the Year) and Brian Griffin (Faceoff Specialist of the Year)
