NE10 Player of the Week
Josh Frometa, American International
Junior | Infielder | Chicopee, Mass.
Frometa helped carry AIC to a 3-1 week against Bridgeport, slashing .500/.700/.917. He was 6-for-12 at the plate and drove in at least one run in every game, reaching base at least half the time in all four games as well. His three-run home run in the third game of the series provided the deciding margin for the contest. He had one home run, six RBI and seven runs scored during the week.
NE10 Pitcher of the Week
Chase Tucker, Saint Rose
Junior | Pitcher | St. John's, Newfoundland
Tucker struck out a career-high 10 batters while surrendering just one hit across 7.0 innings to earn the win against Chestnut Hill on Friday.
NE10 Rookie of the Week
Hunter Smith, Bentley
Sophomore (Rookie Eligible) | Outfielder | Ladera Ranch, Calif.
In a 3-1 week for Bentley, Smith hit .462 (6-for-13) at the plate with a pair of RBI and five runs scored. He stole an incredible four bags in the first game of the series with Saint Michael's, pushing his season total to seven steals (second in NE10). Smith went 4-for-6 in the first game of the weekend, marking his first-career four-hit game. He followed that with a 2-for-3 performance in the second game.
NE10 Weekly Honor Roll
Jose Matos, Adelphi (Gr., C - Coram, N.Y.)
Produced the second-highest batting average on the team in the weekend series against Molloy, sporting a .429 average with a team-high-tying three RBIs. He lifted the game-winning walk-off sacrifice fly that knocked off the No. 13 ranked Lions in the opening game of the series. He also threw out 3-of-7 base stealers in the final game of the series behind the dish.
Dawson Montesa, Adelphi (Fr., P - Glendale, N.Y.)
In his first-ever home start, Montesa took the ball against No. 13 Molloy and fired five incredible innings over a 7-inning contest with eight strikeouts. He limited the Lions to just one run, two hits and a .125 batting average against, while posting a 1.80 earned-run average.
Vaughn O'Leary, American Int'l (So., LHP - Essex, Mass.)
O'Leary twirled a gem for the Yellow Jackets, going a complete-game seven innings in a 5-1 win against Bridgeport. He allowed just two hits and two walks while fanning five for a 0.57 WHIP.
Steve Rizzuto, Bentley (Gr., IF - Belmont, Mass.)
Rizzuto drove in five runs during the weekend series win over St. Michael's. He is tied for the NE10 lead in RBI with 12 this season. Rizzuto finished the weekend with a .500 OBP and he had two multi-hit games, finishing with a .357 average (5-of-14) for the week.
Kyle Roche, Franklin Pierce (Sr., RHP - Braintree, Mass.)
Over the weekend, Roche took the mound for the second time in 2024. Playing six innings, he wracked up an impressive 10 strikeouts in the team's 5-2 victory over Queens - allowing just two earned runs on three hits.
Sam Cavossa, Saint Michael's (So., C/OF - East Falmouth, Mass.)
Cavossa had a hit in all four games of a weekend series with Bentley, finishing with a .429 batting average, .571 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage. Cavossa added four runs, two doubles, four RBI, three walks and a stolen base.
Nathan Toms, Saint Rose (Sr., 1B - Albany, N.Y.)
Toms went 3-for-7 in a pair of games against Chestnut Hill this weekend in Wilson, NC. Toms launched a solo home run and recorded a double as part of a three-RBI performance in the first game of the series on Friday. He reached base twice with a hit and a walk in the finale on Saturday.
Kyle Lavigne, Southern New Hampshire (So., C - Bedford, N.H.)
Lavigne went 4-for-9 (.444) with a double and five RBI, as he slashed .400/.556/.956 in SNHU's doubleheader sweep of Jefferson on Sunday. Lavigne went 1-for-5 with a double and three RBI in a 7-6 game-one victory and then was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs knocked in in an 11-8 win in game two.
