South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven's football team is ranked 12th in the nation according to the American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) Preseason poll it was announced earlier today.

The Chargers, who received 407 votes, have won the Northeast-10 Conference outright each of the last two years and have posted a 16-0 mark in league play over that stretch. New Haven will begin its 2013 season Saturday, September 7 at West Chester (Pa.) of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. West Chester was among the schools receiving votes in this week's poll.

American International College was among the schools that received votes in the first edition of the AFCA Poll. The Yellow Jackets, who return a number of starters from last year's squad, which finished the season with a mark of 7-3, received 21 votes.

The 2013 Northeast-10 Conference season kicks off when American Int'l heads to East Stroudsburg on Thursday, September 5, while league play will get underway on Friday, September 13. The Northeast-10 Championship weekend, which will feature all ten league teams in action, will be held Saturday November 16.
