Le Moyne Projected to Claim NE-10 Men’s Lacrosse Title by League Coaches

Dolphins Picked as Preseason Favorite in NE-10 Coaches' Poll

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Le Moyne Dolphins have been selected as the top team in the Northeast-10 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll, it was announced by the conference office on Thursday.

Le Moyne garnered 118 points overall and eight first-place votes to top the 12-team poll. The Dolphins cruised to the NE-10 regular season title with an 11-0 mark in conference play a season ago, finishing 16-3 overall after falling to Limestone, 9-6, in the NCAA National Championship Game. NE-10 Goalkeeper of the Year Alex Krawec, who was also named the nation's most outstanding goalie by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA), and all-conference first-teamer Brian Rogers are among key members of last year's squad to return for the 2016 season.

Two-time defending NE-10 Champion Adelphi was slotted at No. 2 with 111 points along with the other four votes for first place. Merrimack, which defeated Adelphi in the first round of the NCAA tournament before bowing out to Le Moyne in the semifinals, was third with 104 points. Pace came in at No. 4 with a total of 89 points.

Le Moyne, Adelphi, Merrimack and Pace were all ranked in the USILA/Nike Preseason Coaches' Poll. Le Moyne was second behind reigning national champion Limestone, Merrimack was fourth, Adelphi was fifth and Pace was tied for 17th.

Bentley was fifth in the NE-10 poll with 71 points followed closely by Franklin Pierce in sixth with 67 points. Assumption came in at No. 7 with 55 points with Saint Michael's not far behind in eighth with 51. Southern New Hampshire (9th – 48 pts.), Saint Anselm (10th – 35), Saint Rose (11th – 32) and American International (12th – 11) concluded the preseason coaches' poll.

Both Adelphi and Merrimack bring back a number of key members from a season ago as well. Sal Tuttle, a former NE-10 Player of the Year and the 2015 Division II LT. COL. J.I.(Jack) Turnbull Award winner for most outstanding attackman, returns for the Panthers alongside fellow first team all-conference selection John English. Meanwhile, the Warriors are set to bring back three first team all-conference members from a season ago in Max Allen, Scott Corcoran and Tom McLaughlin.

The 2016 NE-10 Championship is scheduled to begin with quarterfinal contests on Tuesday, May 3 followed by the semifinals on Friday, May 6. The Northeast-10 Championship Game is set for Sunday, May 8.
