Higher Seeds Reign Supreme During NE10 Women's Lacrosse Quarterfinal Round

The four top seeds all won to set up a powerhouse Final Four during the Quarterfinal Round of the 2017 Northeast-10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship. Here's how the four games played out -

#1 Le Moyne 13, #8 Franklin Pierce 1 | BOXSCORE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Three Dolphins each recorded three points to lead top-ranked and top-seeded Le Moyne to a 13-1 win over eighth-seeded Franklin Pierce in the NE10 Championship Quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins advance to the Northeast-10 semifinals for the third straight year and for the sixth time in seven years. The Dolphins will host both of the semifinals and the championship game. The Dolphins will play fourth-seeded Stonehill Saturday at 11:00 a.m. The other semifinal will take place at 2:00 p.m. and the championship game will be on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Freshman goalkeeper Hannah George registered eight saves, including four in each half, to earn her 17th win of the season. Denise Hunt recorded 12 saves in the loss for the Ravens.

#2 Adelphi 16, #7 Bentley 1 | BOXSCORE

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Adelphi remained undefeated at home this season with an NE10 quarterfinal victory over #7 Bentley Wednesday evening. The Panthers (16-1, 12-1 NE10) scored 12 goals in the first half en route to a 16-1 victory against the Falcons (8-9). 

Jacqueline Jahelka put up a team-leading six goals, but was surpassed in the point column by Alison Johnson who was responsible for eight behind six assists and two goals. Five additional players were responsible for the other eight goals, as Ryley Weber was critical in the win, grabbing a season-high seven draw controls to get the offense started. Shea Weber tallied three caused turnovers and three ground balls combining with Jen Graham for three draw controls.

The Panthers advance to their eighth straight NE10 semifinal and will play #3 New Haven on Saturday, May 6. The remainder of the conference championship final four will be held at top-seeded Le Moyne.

#3 New Haven 13, #6 Assumption 5 | BOXSCORE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - New Haven fell behind 1-0 early, but would score the game's next five goals on their way to a 13-5 NE10 Quarterfinal round win over sixth-seeded Assumption tonight. 

Caitlin O'Brien andKendall Cietek each had a hat trick in the win to lead the offense.

The Chargers advance to the Semifinal Round of the NE10 Championship, where they'll take on Adelphi in Syracuse, N.Y. The winner of that game will advance to Sunday's championship game.

#4 Stonehill 16, #5 Pace 9 | BOXSCORE

EASTON, Mass. - Fourth-seeded Stonehill opened up an early 3-0 lead on their way to a convincing 16-9 Quarterfinal round win over Pace tonight at W.B. Mason Stadium. Nine different Skyhawks scored at least one goal, with Kaitlin Healey, Elizaebth Vetter,  and Jennifer Wheaton leading the attack with three goals apiece.

It's the third straight win for Stonehill, and their eighth over their last nine games.

The Skyhawks advance to championship weekend, hosted by Le Moyne, where they will take on the top-seeded Dolphins on Saturday.
