SNHU, Pace Earn Top Seeds in NE10 Baseball Championship

Baseball Championship 2024

CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL

First Round Set for Tuesday.

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Southern New Hampshire and Pace will enter the Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Championship as the top seeds in their respective divisions, as both clinched regular season titles on Saturday. It is the seventh-straight title for SNHU and the first for Pace since 2016.

SNHU ended the regular season with a three-game sweep of Franklin Pierce to take sole ownership of the Northeast Division title, while Pace won a three-game series against Southern Connecticut on the final weekend to win the Southwest Division. The two teams highlight the start of the NE10 Baseball Championship on Tuesday with quarterfinal play.

For seedings and matchups in the 2024 NE10 Baseball Championship, please see the schedule below for dates and times.

SNHU (31-16, 20-7 NE10) won eight of its last nine games to finish the regular season and earn the top seed in the Northeast Division under first-year head coach Chris Shank. The Penmen were led this season by Jorge Burgos, the NE10 home run leader (16), as well as Nater Wachter - who had a conference-best 56 RBI - and Harry Vargas Segura - who posted a league-high 40 stolen bases. SNHU will seek its fifth NE10 Championship this week.

Franklin Pierce finished as the No. 2 seed in the Northeast Division - just two games back of SNHU in the standings. Bentley earned the No. 3 seed and Assumption is the No. 4 seed.

Pace (27-17, 17-10 NE10), the reigning NE10 champion, will look to defend its title - this time as the top seed in the Southwest Division. The Setters won their last two conference series against Saint Rose and Southern Connecticut to finish the season on a high note, narrowly clinching the tightly-contested division on the final weekend. Pace's strength has been pitching, as it leads all NE10 teams in ERA (3.01) and has four starters with sub-3.00 ERAs.

New Haven earned the No. 2 seed in the Southwest Division after finishing one game behind Pace in the conference standings, while Adelphi is the No. 3 seed and Saint Rose is the No. 4 seed.

The high seeds will host the first round of the Champhionship on Tuesday, as eight teams compete for four spots in NE10 Baseball Championship Weekend (May 9-11) - which will be hosted by the highest remaining seed from the Northeast Division. All games throughout the Championship will be streamed on NE10NOW.tv.
