New Haven Ranked No. 18 in Compughter Ratings Division II Preseason Rankings

South Easton, Mass. – The University of New Haven football program has been ranked No. 18 by CompughterRatings.com in the site's Division II football national preseason rankings for the upcoming season.

The Chargers (11-2, 8-0 NE-10), who did not lose a contest in Northeast-10 Conference play a year ago, advanced all the way to the national quarterfinals before falling to Winston-Salem State University, 27-7.

New Haven returns quarterback and Northeast-10 Offensive Player of the Year Ryan Osiecki (pictured) for his senior season in 2012 after propelling the Chargers to 40.2 points per contest a year ago. The University of Louisville transfer threw for 3,336 yards with 36 touchdowns to just 12 interceptions, had a completion percentage of 65.7 percent and also ran for eight scores.

In all, New Haven had 17 players receive All-Conference honors a year ago, while head coach Peter Rossomando has been named the Northeast-10 Coach of the Year in each of the past two seasons.

The Chargers will open their season on Saturday, September 1 when they host Merrimack College before traveling to Raleigh, N.C. the following week to take on Saint Augustine's College.

Southern Connecticut State University (7-3, 6-2 NE-10) and Bentley University (6-4, 5-3 NE-10) came in at No. 93 and No. 94, respectively, on the list. American International College (6-4, 5-3 NE-10) was ranked No. 97 while Merrimack College (6-4, 5-3 NE-10) was ranked 110th.

The Northeast-10 preseason coaches poll will be released in late August.
