SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - LIU Post, the defending conference champions, received 8 of a possible 12 first-place votes and 117 points overall to take the top spot in the 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Coaches' Preseason Poll, the conference office announced this morning.

Merrimack College finished second in the coaches' poll with 106 points, including three first place votes, just edging out Stonehill who received 104 points, including one first place nod. Adelphi University ranks fourth in the preseason poll with 87 points.
Rounding out the rest of the NE-10 field hockey coaches' poll was first-year program Southern New Hampshire University (18), and Franklin Pierce University (17).
The 2014 field hockey season begins Thursday, September 4, with a match between NE-10 newcomer So. New Hampshire and Roger Williams University. Conference playoffs get underway on Tuesday, November 18 with the championship game to be played on Saturday, November 22.

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.
Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in Conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sports sponsorship.
