SFB 2024 Poll

2024 Champ Adelphi Tabbed To Repeat by League Coaches

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MANSFIELD, Mass. – The Adelphi Panthers, winners of the most recent Northeast-10 regular season and Championship, have again been selected by the league's coaches to claim the conference crown.  Adelphi received nine of 12 first-place votes heading into the 2024 season.

Franklin Pierce, Saint Anselm and Bentley were selected second, third and fourth, mimicking the four teams that finished atop the conference a year ago.  Each of those three teams received a first-place vote. Assumption, the 2023 Championship runner-up, was chosen fifth.

At 21-3, Adelphi stood alone atop the NE10 softball standings at the end of last season.  The Panthers went on to claim the Championship title as well after knocking off Assumption in the league final.  The win was the fifth in Adelphi history, most among active NE10 institutions.

The Panthers return 2023 National Pitcher of the Year Lindsey Hibbs for her senior season this spring.  Hibbs, also the NE10 Pitcher of the Year, racked up 28 wins with a 0.67 ERA while striking out almost every other batter she faced in '23.

Also returning this spring is the reigning NE10 Player of the Year, Franklin Pierce catcher Ashely Cangiano.  The North Attleboro, Mass. native blasted 10 homeruns while hitting .444 and driving in 54 runs in 2023.  Each of those statistics led the NE10.

Both Adelphi and Saint Anselm account for each of the last six NE10 Championship titles dating back to 2017. Four NE10 squads qualified for the NCAA Championship in 2023, including Adelphi, Bentley, Franklin Pierce and Pace.

The first pitch of 2024 is set to be thrown February 9th.  The conference season will finish May 4th at the site of the number one seed.
