2013 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship Participants Announced

Northeast-10 represented with 42 student-athletes
among national championship qualifiers

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. – The NCAA announced its selections for the 2013 Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday, with 42 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes receiving initiations to compete on the national stage.

The 2013 Championships will take place March 7-9 in Birmingham, Ala.

For the women, 19 Northeast-10 student-athletes will compete, while 23 men representing Northeast-10 members will travel to Birmingham.  

On the women's side, American International College had five invited, including junior Jeptui Cherutich (3000-meter, DMR), sophomore Claudia Fernandez (DMR), freshman Tobiann Lascelles (DMR), junior Starr Nathan (long jump) and junior MJ Ohoueu (DMR). 

Bentley University senior Caitlin Fahey will compete in the 1-mile run.

For the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which won this year's Northeast-10 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship, nine will travel to Birmingham. The River Hawks' entries will include senior Shannon Cunningham (4x400 relay), senior Nicole Giaquinto (4x400 relay, DMR), junior Candace Greene (shot put), junior Karie Judge (DMR), junior Elisabeth Monty (60-meter hurdles, 4x400 relay), sophomore Taelour Murphy (4x400 relay), freshman Kelsey O'Driscoll (DMR), sophomore Antoinette Toussaint (long jump, pentathlon) and senior Kelly Walton (DMR). Toussaint was this year's Northeast-10 Championship Women's Athlete of the Meet, 

A pair of University of New Haven student-athletes will compete in sophomore Briana Conyers (triple jump) and sophomore Ada Udaya (60-meter, 200-meter). Udaya (pictured) was crowned the 2013 Northeast-10 Female Athlete of the Year.

For Southern Connecticut State University, sophomores Jasmine Bien-Aime (60-meter) and Michelle Grecni (pole vault) will compete on the national stage.

On the men's side, representing American Int'l will be junior Jeremy Antivo (DMR), freshman Michael Biwott (5000-meter, 3000-meter, DMR), junior Curtis Johnson (DMR), senior Glarius Rop (5000-meter, 3000-meter) and junior Dennis Stephenson (400-meter).

UMass Lowell will have eight student-athletes travel to Birmingham, including sophomore Ryad Bencheikh (4x400 meter), senior Craig Bennett (4x400 relay, DMR), junior Scott Boiko (DMR), junior David Brown (DMR), senior Eric McDonald (3000-meter, DMR), junior Casey O'Brien (4x400 relay), junior Timothy Regan (4x400 relay) and senior Jeff Veiga (5000-meter, 3000-meter).

New Haven senior David Thomas, this year's Northeast-10 Championship Men's Athlete of the Meet, will compete in the 60-meter dash and the long jump.

The College of Saint Rose senior Macky Lloyd will compete in the 1-mile run.

Six will represent the Owls of So. Connecticut in Birmingham. They include sophomore Michael Cameron (shot put), senior Justin Escaravage (heptathlon), AJ Guerra (weight throw), Jimm Guerrier (triple jump), junior Nick Lebron (heptathlon) and freshman Michael Lee (triple jump).

Lebron claimed the individual national title in the heptathlon a year ago at NCAAs.

Stonehill College will send a pair of high jumpers in sophomore Nick Staley and senior Corey Thomas. Thomas, who was named the 2013 Northeast-10 Male Athlete of the Year, will also compete in the 60-meter hurdles. 

The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 16 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes. Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country.
