Top Seeds March On to Semis During Women's Lacrosse Action

The top four seeds in the 2016 NE-10 Women's Lacrosse
championship advanced to the semifinals with wins earlier tonight.

#1 Adelphi 18, #8 Pace 2 | BOXSCORE

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Top-ranked and top-seeded Adelphi scored the first 18 goals of their Quarterfinal Round game against Pace, en route to an 18-2 win against eighth-seeded Pace.

With the win, the Panthers remain undefeated (17-0), and now earn the right to host this weekend's Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals and Finals. Those games will take place this Saturday and Sunday, May 7 and May 8.

Adelphi's Rachel O'Brien led all scorers registering eight points on the strength of three goals and five assists.

#2 Le Moyne 15, #7 American International 4 | BOXSCORE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior attacker Maggie Monnat recorded eight points to lead the second-ranked and second-seeded Le Moyne to a 15-4 victory over seventh-seeded American International in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins advance to the semifinals for the fifth time in their six years in the conference and will take on third-seeded Bentley at top-ranked and top-seeded Adelphi University on Saturday at a time still to be determined.

#3 Bentley 9, #6 Stonehill 8 | BOXSCORE

WALTHAM, Mass. – Sophomore Kathleen Gillespie scored the go-ahead goal with 1:32 remaining to lift Bentley to a 9-8 victory over Stonehill and into the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

Gillespie's goal, off a feed from Kelsey Howard, broke an 8-8 tie. Meredith Hart then won the ensuing draw control, and Bentley was able to run out the clock to clinch a berth in Saturday's semifinal against No. 2 seed Le Moyne.

It's the 11th straight win for Bentley, which was ranked No. 13 in this week's rankings, and extends the school record streak  that they already hold.

The Falcons controlled the first half and led 5-2 at the break. They outshot the visiting Skyhawks 18-7 in the opening 30 minutes. Junior attack Ciara Morley had two goals in the first 10 minutes.

#4 New Haven 12, #9 Southern New Hampshire 9 | BOXSCORE

WEST HAVEN, Conn. - Fourth-seeded New Haven scored five of the game's first six goals, and withstood a late charge from the visiting Penmen to advance to the Semifinal Round of the 2016 Northeast-10 Conference Championship with a 12-9 win tonight.

New Haven will head to Garden City, N.Y. to take on top-seeded Adelphi in the semifinals Saturday afternoon.

Southern New Hampshire pulled to within one goal midway through the second half, but New Haven scored four unanswered goals to pull away for the win. 

The Chargers were led offensively by Alicia Busco and Maya Szymanski, as each scored three times in the win.
