Casiano Named American International Head Women's Lacrosse Coach

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 23, 2015

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – American International College Director of Athletics Matthew Johnson has announced the hiring of Ashley Casiano as full-time head women's lacrosse coach effective immediately.

Casiano joins AIC after spending the last two seasons as the assistant coach at Division I, Ivy League, Yale. During her time with the Bulldogs, Casiano worked extensively with the goalies while also serving as film coordinator, managing equipment, scouting opposing teams, coordinating community service outreach, and recruiting. Yale combined to go 16-14 with Casiano on the bench.

"I am so grateful to be given the opportunity and honor to lead the Women's Lacrosse Program" Casiano exclaimed.

Casiano attended Division I Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. as a student-athlete where she excelled both on the field and in the classroom. She was twice named to the Metro Atlantic All-Conference second-team as a goalkeeper during her junior and senior seasons. Casiano was also named to the MAAC All-tournament team during her freshman and senior seasons as well as being an All-Academic team member.

Casiano currently sits tied for first in career wins with 22 and is third in goals against average (11.20) while being fourth in both saves (491) and save percentage (.448) in the Red Foxes' career record books.

"We are very excited to be adding yet another passionate, energetic coach to the athletic department" mentioned Johnson.

After back-to-back five win seasons the Jackets will look toward strong leadership in 2016 as they return nearly their entire starting line-up from a year ago.

"I am excited to get started and to continue to build the women's lacrosse program (at AIC) to compete at the top level" commented Casiano. "I would like to thank Matt Johnson and the AIC Administration for such an opportunity."

Casiano graduated from Marist in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications before receiving her Masters in Recreation and Sport Administration with a focus in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Western Kentucky University this past May.

"Ashley has a very impressive playing and coaching resume and came highly recommended.  We are confident her proven track record of success academically and athletically, along with the drive and determination she possesses, will positively impact the women's lacrosse program moving forward" Johnson concluded.
