Defending Northeast-10 Champion LIU Post Picked Atop Football Coaches’ Poll

Pioneers Chosen to Repeat by Coaches

MANSFIELD, Mass. – LIU Post was picked to repeat as Northeast-10 Champions by the league’s coaches, as the conference released its 2015 Football Coaches’ Poll Friday morning. The Pioneers edged out the Yellow Jackets of American International by claiming two more first-place votes (4-2) while both squads garnered 74 points apiece.

Last November, the Pioneers topped the Yellow Jackets, the conference’s regular season champions, by a score of 58-25 in the Northeast-10 Championship Game.

Assumption came in at No. 3 with a total of 65 points, including a pair of first-place votes as well. New Haven was close behind at No. 4 with 62 points, also claiming two first-place nods.

Saint Anselm and Stonehill both tied for the fifth spot by collecting 41 points each. Coming in at No. 7 was Bentley with 38 total points followed by Merrimack in eighth with 29. Rounding out the rest of the field was Southern Connecticut (20 pts.) and Pace (10).

The defending champs open their 2015 slate on Thursday, Sept. 3, while the other nine NE-10 teams begin on Saturday, Sept. 5. The 2015 NE-10 title game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 14 as part of the Northeast-10 Championship Weekend.
