MANSFIELD, Mass. – Saint Anselm College was selected by the Northeast-10 Conference Ice Hockey Coaches to claim the 2014 Championship the conference office announced this morning. The Hawks received 21 total votes, including two first-place selections in a very close vote.
Saint Anselm is coming off a 10-12-4 campaign a year ago, including a 4-1 mark in NE-10 play. They were defeated in the semifinals of last year's conference championship, falling to Southern New Hampshire, 4-1.

Saint Michael's College was tabbed to finish second, as the Purple Knights received 19 points, and also received two first place nods. Saint Michael's advanced to last year's Championship Final, falling to So. New Hampshire, 4-1.
So. New Hampshire and Stonehill College tied for third in the preseason poll with both squads receiving 18 votes, and one first place vote apiece. Following them is Franklin Pierce (8 points), while Assumption received 6 votes.
The ice hockey season officially gets underway tonight with two games scheduled, while the Northeast-10 Conference will crown a champion on Saturday, February 28.
