MANSFIELD, Mass. – The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District ® Soccer Teams feature 11 Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes, it was announced earlier this month.
The All-District Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Among the 11 recognized from Northeast-10 institutions, three were from The College of Saint Rose women's team and three hailed from the Southern New Hampshire University men's team.
It's the fifth time in the past six years, Saint Rose has had the greatest representation on the Academic All-District® Team.
The three Golden Knights honored were graduate student Carmelina Puopolo, senior Jourdan Thompson (who was also recognized last year), pictured, and junior Michaela Philips. The Penmen contingent included graduate student Jonathan Lupinelli, senior Keegan Campbell, pictured, and juniorSebastian Stezewski.
Also garnering the prestigious honor was Adelphi University junior Taylor Groth, a repeat honoree, Merrimack College junior Jenna Savi and teammate, Megan Gada, a sophomore, and Pace University sophomore Alyssa Zeoli. The other recognized male student-athlete was Adelphi'sJuan Aguiar.
The Northeast-10 Conference is an association of 15 NCAA Division II colleges and universities located in New England and New York that is committed to supporting balanced academic and athletic opportunities for more than 6,000 student-athletes.
Each year, 4,000 of those student-athletes compete in conference championships in 23 sports, making the NE-10 the largest DII conference in the country in terms of sport sponsorship. Leading the way in the classroom, on the field and within the community, the Northeast-10 is proud of its comprehensive program and the experience it provides student-athletes.
